The Arab Cinema in Sweden ACIS - the distribution arm of Malmö Arab Film Festival- which distributes Arabic films in Sweden and northern European countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland), announced that it will start participating in films based on joint production between the Nordic countries - especially Sweden - and Arab countries in early 2019. This, throw encouraging shooting Arab films in Sweden, and coordinating film projects that include technical professionals from both the Arab region and Sweden, which will have a positive impact that enhances the exchange of experiences between the two sides and calls for a great co-production movement between the Arab and Scandinavian regions.
"In its new activity, the ACIS will give the priority to the common cinematic themes of both the Nordic and Arab countries, starting with artists and technicians, through the joint funding between the two sides and ending with all the technical logistics related to post-production. " said Mouhamad Keblawi, founder and director of Malmö Arab Film Festival and Chairman of the Arab Cinema in Sweden ACIS.
"The Arab Film Foundation in Sweden will begin to provide production services for Arab films producers who wish to film their work or parts of it in Sweden or the North, and will help filmmakers in their post-production work (i.e. Editing, Sound Mix, Color Grading) "Keblawi added.
This step comes after Keblawi's tour around the Arab festivals of the last quarter of 2018, including El Gouna GFF, Cairo international film festival CIFF, Carthage JCC and Marrakech. After his return to Sweden he met with a number of board directors in many Swedish film institutions to discuss constructive steps to support the Arab cinema through focusing on co-production projects throw the all stages of the filmmaking and distribution.
